Civitas Media, a publisher of over 80 newspaper titles signed an agreement with MIDTC to take over all technology aspects of the organization in order to more easily divest individual and groups of properties, while allowing the owners of Civitas to reduce time spent on TSA’s and ensure a smooth transition for the new buyers of the various properties.
Over the course of several months, MIDTC was able to continue normal technology operations for all Civitas sites, while working with new buyers to convert and transform websites, data and systems into their new culture.
Not only did this process allow Civitas to reduce operating costs as pieces of the company were sold off, it gave them a platform to ensure a smooth technology transfer which in turn helped sell the properties. MIDTC has continued support for many of the divested assets as well as remained a consultative contact in case the new buyer needed institutional knowledge of systems/processes later in their absorption of the newspapers into their current culture.
A Cost and Time Effective Transition
Reduced technology expenses as assets were divested as a % of that assets company performance.
In many divestiture cases, there are hard costs (IT management, enterprise agreements, overall structure) right up to the final sale. Having MIDTC manage/bill the TSA’s directly, allowed Civitas to reduce the expense along the way.
Allow for a seamless technology transition
New buyers had the peace of mind, that their new purchase wasn’t going to fall apart as soon as it was broken away.
MIDTC helped transition data, websites, systems, email and dozens of processes while working directly with staff in both the new and old organizations.
MIDTC helped Civitas divest 80 newspaper publications.
MIDTC also helped the new buyers convert the current technology of the publications over into their new culture.
Ad servers, websites, mobile apps, and internal platforms such as analytic dashboards were converted over or modified to accommodate the new buyers needs.
The existing platforms were also maintained during the transition.
